A stabbing, smoky hallways and flooded floors - three unique incidents that neighbors of a Crotona Park apartment complex say they're all too familiar with.
Police say a 37-year-old woman was stabbed in the arm and back Monday morning after 5:30 a.m. A blood trail from the third floor led first responders down to the laundry room, where she was found and brought to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Moments after, neighbors said the building was flooded and smoke filled the air.
" I smelt the smoke around 6:30 a.m. - 7 a.m.," said fifth-floor resident Karillys Peralta.
At first, Peralta thought nothing of it, but when she saw a flood an out of service elevator, she knew it's likely from a third floor tenant neighbors say is up to no good.
"It's been very chaotic for I'd say two to three years," She said.
At least 20 complaints have been filed with 311 at 950 E. 176th St. apartment building in Crotona Park. Included in these complaints are eight water maintenance calls that neighbor say are linked to frequent floods coming from a third-floor unit.
Neighbors also said they have been seeing at least eight other people causing a commotion on that floor, using drugs, walking around naked and engaging in sexual activity in the laundry room.
Neighbors say management is not properly addressing the issue.
