Woman wanted for assaulting man, damaging cellphone in Claremont

The NYPD says the woman approached the 61-year-old in front of 1363 Webster Ave. just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police are looking for a woman who assaulted a man and damaged his cellphone in Claremont.

The NYPD says the woman approached the 61-year-old in front of 1363 Webster Ave. just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

She began arguing with the man before taking his cellphone and striking him in the face, causing a laceration. Police say she threw the cellphone to the ground, damaging it.

EMS treated the man on scene for minor injuries.

The assailant ran from the scene and was last seen wearing a black jacket and a black knit hat, according to authorities.

Police ask anyone with information to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
