October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and a 70-year-old man is walking over 130 miles from Montauk to Manhattan in honor of his late wife, who passed away from breast cancer 12 years ago.

Paul Gruol has been averaging about 11 to 12 miles a day. He says he’s doing this for the survivors, caregivers, and doctors--all while raising awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.

He says he will be ending his walk at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge on 32nd Street in Manhattan.

Gruol is a "Real Men Wear Pink" ambassador, which means he’s committed to raising at least $2,500 and wearing pink every day during the month of October.

His wife Maria battled breast cancer for 11 years, and says they used to complete breast cancer walks together.

“I miss walking with her. I felt like when I started this walk, I felt her hand in my hand. I always feel like she’s there with me,” said Gruol.

Gruol has about six miles left to his final destination Friday and has raised $5,000 so far.
