The Yemeni American community rallied Wednesday to call on the Biden administration to reissue thousands of visas to the Yemeni people who won them through a diversity visa program and then lost them following the Trump administration’s travel ban.
The diversity visa program sets aside 50,000 visas each year for immigrants from countries that only send a few people to the United States.
Lottery winners are required to obtain these visas within one year of their acceptance, something that thousands of Yemeni residents were unable to do after the Trump administration’s travel ban.
Residents spoke with News 12’s Jericho Tran on their hope for justice and how they are calling on the Biden administration to consider a humanitarian parole process.
