Yonkers police and other city agencies issued traffic alerts that a milling and paving project near heavily traveled Tuckahoe Road will likely cause traffic backups.
The repairs began this weekend and will continue throughout the Monday morning commute.
Drivers are being urged to be patient and use caution as Department of Public Works crews will be milling the westbound section of Tuckahoe Road in the area from I-87 towards Mile Square Road. Drivers are also advised to avoid the area if at all possible.
"We recommend everybody give themselves a little bit more time, prepare for it, try to take alternate routes. It's going to be a little bit chaotic but it's not going to last very long," said Westchester County Legislator James Nolan.
The paving of the same section of Tuckahoe Road will start Monday 9 a.m. and will be completed by the end of the day.
