Youth community, NYPD come together in Adopt-A-Cop program to build trust

Children involved in the Adopt-A-Cop program were honored for their completion of the program with a banquet.
The event took place at the NYPD Community Center in East New York.
The program allowed the young participants to pick the officers they wanted as their mentors.
Monique Porter, the site director at the NYPD Community Center, explained the importance of the program highlighting the relationship-building between kids, the community and police.
Sixty-two kids finished the Adopt-A-Cop program and received a stipend for their completion.
