Children's Fashion Show raises diabetes awareness
A nonprofit organization gave kids an opportunity to strut their stuff on a runway, while raising awareness for diabetes.
Bronx native Amy Fair started "Fair in Action" three years ago after her father died of type 2 diabetes. Since then, she has been hosing events across the borough to teach people about the disease and to help those affected.
"It's been my mission to advocate for type 2 diabetes also because my mother currently has it and...The Bronx has the highest rate of diabetes. At any age, you can be educated and provide diabetes awareness," Fair told News 12 The Bronx.
The Children's Fashion Show event, held at the Marriott Residence Inn on Eastchester Road, aimed at motivating the youth to make a positive change within the community.
