A local lawmaker defended his reputation today against allegations of misusing public campaign funds.
Councilman Andy King is now facing penalties for more than $20,000 in alleged undocumented expenditures. He is also being charged for accepting funds that exceed authorized contribution limits.
The penalties stem from the 2012 special election. According to a campaign worker, $44,000 of $58,000 is unaccounted for.
The councilman says he is all about accountability, and his treasurer and attorney are working diligently to address the issue.
