Glacken’s Bar and Grill celebrates 75 years
Glacken's Bar and Grill, on 149th Street between Walton and Gerard avenues, celebrated its 75th anniversary Monday.
The restaurant first opened its doors when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president.
The Glacken family has maintained the business through three generations.
Marty and Lorraine Glacken say the key to their business is treating their customers well.
Patrons warmly refer to it as the "smallest biggest bar" in the Bronx -- a reference to both its size and the staff's welcoming feel, they say.
