Lehman HS alum makes big league debut
Lehman High School alum TJ Rivera put on a major league uniform for the first time Wednesday, playing for his father's favorite team, the Mets.
Rivera signed with the team in 2011 after going undrafted.
He began his journey through the club's farm system, playing in Brooklyn, Kingsport and Binghamton.
Rivera says it's a hardworking mindset that got him to the big leagues. His high school coach, Adam Droz, says he saw that in him more than a decade ago.
"(The) first thing that comes to mind about TJ... hard, hard worker," Droz says. "He would come right through those gym doors, he'd be the first one in and the last one out."
