Some Bronx residents beat the heat Wednesday at the floating pool in Hunts Point.

The pool was filled to capacity at Barretto Point Park.

"It felt like heaven," said Mario Jimenez. "It felt like straight heaven, like you fell out of the sky into a large bowl of cold water."

Those not in the pool took refuge in the shade or in park sprinklers.

The city also cranked air conditioners at cooling centers, including the Rain Center in Pelham Bay. The center was at capacity as seniors kept themselves occupied within the comforts of climate control.

Officials also advise residents to turn down their own air conditioners when leaving home to help conserve energy and avoid power outages.
