An accident on the Cross Bronx Expressway left one person dead and massive traffic delays for morning commuters in the Bronx.

Police say there were three passengers in the car involved in the incident. It's possible the passenger that died had a medical episode since he had no trauma to his body, according to authorities.

Police a woman was driving the silver car when she hit a tree and lost control, sending the vehicle into a pole near Exit 4.

The accident caused traffic to back up as police investigated and worked to remove the car from the highway.
