A 100-year-old man almost accidentally took own life when he shot himself Thursday.

Pedro Detres of Concourse was handling his revolver inside his East 162nd Street apartment when he accidentally shot himself in the thigh.

Detres was taken to Lincoln Hospital where he was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon because detectives say the gun was not purchased legally.

He is expected to be OK, but remains in the hospital as of Friday.
