Andy King is asking District 12 to give him another chance in City Council. He previously held the role for eight years, but was expelled in 2020 due to harassment and ethics allegations.
News 12 asked him what he would say to voters concerned about his history.
“Well, everyone has a history. And so I think today, if you appreciate the work that I do, if you appreciate the care that I have in my heart for children, community, and I never stop offering my time and energy to help a fellow man or fellow sister,” he said.
King said he’s launching a comeback campaign. His focus is geared toward cleaning up the community and combating crime. He prides himself off his dedication toward the youth and protecting seniors.
King also commented on how he’s going to protect the public safety of the district.
“I think one of the things I like to do is working with NYPD and working with actual violence programs and get in front of a lot of the crime that happens before it happens," he says.
He wants the residents to know he is committed to the job and available to listen and talk to the community at all times.
King is running against the incumbent Council Member Kevin Riley. Early voting begins on June 14.
