The seventh annual "Get Green" South Bronx Earth Fest was held today to bring awareness to the importance of recycling and a clean environment.
Participants converted the engine of a former school bus to run on used vegetable oil, making it a clean-energy vehicle. Green Mountain Energy, which was present at the event, donated $12,000 to help put solar panels on the bus.
Organizers say the event brings people in the community together and keeps kids out of trouble.
