Members of the East 59th Street United Block Association gathered in Flatbush on Saturday to honor family members who died, but didn’t get a proper funeral due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group honored 15 people who died since 2020 and said final remarks about their loved ones in an effort to gain closure.
“I remember my husband as someone happy. He was the pillar of our family, always willing to help, always there for other people,” said Sandra Anderson, who lost her husband, Michael.
