Allegations of sexting, nude photo solicitation surface at Sleepy Hollow HS
Police and Sleepy Hollow High School officials are investigating allegations of sexting and the solicitation of nude photos at Sleepy Hollow High School.
Parents received a letter from the principal last week notifying them that an unknown individual asked students for explicit pictures on Snapchat.
While the Sleepy Hollow Police Department was investigating, Sleepy Hollow High School Principal Tracy Smith says they learned a number of students were sexting.

In her official statement to parents, Smith said, "It is important for us to clarify that both requesting and sending inappropriate pictures is wrong." She added, "In my conversations with students, I have informed them that sending or receiving pictures of underage children is considered child pornography, which is a felony according to New York state law."

Principal Smith said upcoming community meetings and an assembly with the District Attorney's Office is in the works. The meetings and assembly aim to further educate students about digital safety and how their actions can have major consequences.
Some students News 12 spoke to said they didn't know there were legal consequences for sexting.
"My sister being a police officer, she has informed me about this and there are serious consequences for it,” says Sleepy Hollow High School sophomore Biani Neris. “We don't really think about that when we do these things."
