Bronx residents gathered at Saint Mary's Park on Saturday for the annual Daffodil Distribution Project.
The event took place nearly a week after the 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks as a way for the community to pay tribute to the victims.
Every year, people are asked to plant the flowers in public spaces to help beautify the community.
"The program really has been a way for a lot of folks in this very under-resourced part of the city to make their neighborhoods come together," said Emily Walker, of New Yorkers for Parks.
All of the daffodils handed out on Saturday were free of charge.
