Police arrested Hector Sanchez, 21, of the Bronx, in connection to the fatal stabbing of Esmerlyn Toribio Monday in Fordham.
They say Sanchez and Toribio were involved in a verbal dispute when Sanchez pulled out a knife and stabbed the teen 14 times on East 182nd Street and Ryer Avenue around 8:40 p.m. Sunday.
Toribio was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where police say he went into cardiac arrest and later died.
He recently graduated from Roosevelt High School, and was getting ready to go to Berkeley College next week.
According to friends and family, Toribio wanted to be a police detective.
Sanchez is facing murder charges, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
