A Babylon school employee has been reassigned as the district investigates allegations of misconduct.

The employee has not been identified, but News 12 has been told it is a male teacher.

Babylon’s superintendent sent a letter out to the district saying in part, "The district does not tolerate misconduct and takes all allegations of such very seriously." The letter went on to say, “We can confirm an internal investigation is currently underway and the employee in question was immediately reassigned to home.”

A student at Babylon High School tells News 12 he was in class when the teacher was removed from the room by the principal.

"He walked back into class, red as a tomato," says Brandon Timko. "He looks very sad...packs up all his belongings and walks out of class."

Another student told News 12 they were not surprised by the allegations and that it's been known by other students and alumni that he treats girls in a "creepy manner."

Suffolk County police confirm they are investigating the incident.

There was also a change.org petition that circulated in the community and had 1,500 signatures regarding the allegations. It has since been shut down due to harassing comments.
