A hole opened up above the bathtub in a Melrose apartment a month ago, the family living there says, and has been leaking dirty water and letting in bugs ever since.
"It was small -- then it got bigger," says Kadeem Campbell, who lives in the Melrose Houses with his wife and 4-year-old daughter.
The hole hovers directly above the shower head, he says, and it leaks dirty water on his family when they try to shower. Both his wife and daughter have asthma, and he says the hole is making those symptoms worse, too.
Campbell says he reported the problem to the maintenance office, but serious repairs never happened.
"They put a thick piece of cardboard with waterproof duct tape," he says. "That didn't work."
A NYCHA spokesperson tells News 12 that repairs will come soon.
"This is unacceptable," he spokesperson says. "We can and will do better."
