Beer and wine can now be served at concession stands in movie theaters across the state.
The vote was unanimously approved by the New York State Liquor Authority Thursday.
Previously, alcohol was only allowed at movie theaters if the movie theater was deemed a restaurant and sold alcohol at bars for pre-movie consumption - or servers delivered alcohol to tables inside the theater.
The ruling goes into effect immediately and theaters can start applying for license Thursday.
