Commuters in Belmont told News 12 on Monday they are concerned when they step out of the bus at the Southern Boulevard stop on the Bx9 and Bx19 lines.
"I have seen accidents. People falling down," said Belmont resident Jose Rolon.
Rolon said he has also experienced stepping onto unstable parts of the bus boarding extension.
"When it happened to me, my legs, you know, they tumble, and I thought I was going to get hurt," he said.
The extension features several rows with missing sections, blocked off with caution tape and traffic barrels. Other sections of the ramp are unmarked, leaving commuters vulnerable to gaps and sections that sink in.
"It's very dangerous, because if you walk some of them move out of place and you can fall down just like my son did," said another bus rider named Mercedes.
The DOT told News 12, in part, "on Southern Boulevard they help reduce conflicts with cyclists. We are actively working to make short- and long-term repairs to this extension and others on the boulevard.”
