Residents are calling management at a newly open apartment building a nightmare.
The Belmont apartment building at 2441 Crotona Ave. opened last year as part of a housing lottery. Residents say it might look luxurious but looks are deceiving.
Tenants tell News 12 they've had issues with leaks, heat and people sleeping in their lobby.
"I want to come home to safety. I don't want to have to worry about stepping over somebody. I don't want to worry about people in the staircase sleeping," said resident Deshaun Doby.
Doby, along with others, says it's nearly impossible to get in touch with management, making residents feel neglected. Doby tells News 12 he once was locked out of his apartment, and it took management two weeks to get back to him.
Yelp reviews rate Front Door management company with one star. One person writing "they don't even deserve one star."
"I want to be treated like a human being." said Michelle Gist, a resident.
News 12 spoke with a member of the management company over the phone. He said he was surprised to hear this feedback from residents. He said the team is aware of people sleeping in the lobby and is working with the NYPD to resolve the issue.
He says the best way to raise a concern is through the resident portal or calling their answering service and leaving an email address.
