A Bronx artist's new photo project depicts Catholic saints as if they lived in the present-day South Bronx.
Melanie Gonzalez's "Discount Saints" features Mary as an everyday Hispanic woman and Jesus as a Puerto Rican man born in the Bronx.
A Last Supper photograph contains Chinese food on the table and hairnets for halos.
"They're kind of rough and kind of gaudy, but I shot them very classical to represent these characters you see in the Bronx in a beautiful light," Gonzalez says.
The exhibit is open in Harlem until the end of January.
