According to a study cited by lawmakers, 20% of delivery workers report being assaulted on the job.

DoorDash has endorsed the measure, releasing a statement saying, "No one should have to worry about threats to their safety while making deliveries."

The company pledged to collaborate with law enforcement to ensure the safety of its workers.
