A statue of Mother Teresa, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Catholic nun who the pope will name a saint in September, will soon arrive in Brooklyn.

Church officials at St. Athanasius Church at Bay Parkway and 62nd Street will unveil the statue later that month.

Mother Teresa, who is of Albanian descent, founded a charity for the poor in Calcutta, India in the 1950s. She is very popular among Catholics around the world, especially in the heavily Albanian Bensonhurst community in Brooklyn.

The nonprofit Albanian Roots is raising funds for the statue, which is still being built in Italy.

Albania's president is slated to attend the unveiling, and the New York State Senate will present a proclamation declaring Sept. 4 Mother Teresa Day.
