The seventh annual Bloody Mary Festival is made its way to Brooklyn for the weekend. 

The festival has been going on for 10 years, but organizers had to skip out on three years of celebrating due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

The origins of the drink are often debated, but many attribute its creation to a French bartender who brought the drink to New York City during the 1920s. Bloody Mary's are traditionally made with vodka, hot sauce and tomato juice and topped with a garnish. From there, the creative options are endless.  

"When you live in New York, you never know what you're going to get," said Evan Weiss, co-founder of the Blood Mary Festival. "And when you order a Bloody Mary, you never know quite what you're going to get." 

Attendees at the festival got to try Bloody Mary’s from local spots across Brooklyn and cast votes to decide the people’s choice. A panel of judges were also there to weigh in and pick their favorites.  

The official winner will be announced on the festival’s page Sunday.
