A Jamaican restaurant in the Bronx is becoming known for its warm and welcoming staff and Caribbean flavors.
Bickles 2 Go on Courtlandt Avenue in Melrose brings the flair and flavors of Jamaica to the Bronx.
The restaurant gets its name from the word 'bickles,' a term often used by Jamaicans when describing food.
Customers say their go-to dish is the brown stew chicken, while others enjoy the $5 curry chicken special.
Part owner Mary Leonard says they use a lot of spices in their food, but not all of the dishes are always hot.
"Mostly Jamaicans like a lot spice. Now that we're cooking for the general public and I'm not only cooking for Jamaicans, we have to tone it down, but we have a wide selection of spices that we can tone it down," Leonard says.
