A Bronx woman was standing on a Morris Avenue sidewalk with her daughter when a brick tumbled five stories and hit her in the head, police say.
Neighbors identified the victim only as Miss Norma, who is in her 60s.
They say she collapsed on impact and was heavily bleeding.
Police say she is now in serious condition at the hospital.
It was not immediately clear whether the brick fell on its own or was thrown or dropped from the building.
News 12 attempted to access the roof of the building, but it appeared to be locked. Some neighbors, however, say they have been able to get to it.
