The Bridgeport Health Department is investigating a severe case of bedbug infestation on the city's East Side.

Jessica Gonzalez, who is disabled, says she and her two sons have received medical treatment for their bedbug bites, and are fed up with the situation in their multifamily house on East Main Street.

After News 12 Connecticut reported the situation to the Bridgeport Health Department, the agency's director launched an investigation.

"We will be conducting a thorough inspection of the units to ensure that we also have a full scope of the issue and the issue is going to be resolved within the statutory requirements of five business days," said Maritza Bond, Bridgeport Health director.

Faith and Hope Ministries brought the family food and clothing Saturday.
