Local businesses along Jerome Avenue are continuing to pick up the pieces after an enormous water main break flooded every corner of the area on Thursday.
Bronx gym Brutal Boxx Bougie Down says it got a major beatdown that it was not ready for.
Gym owner Jose Morales is now trying to get his business back on track after the water main break that left a sinkhole near 175th Street.
“Right now, as we speak, I'm picking up all the Sheetrock that was damaged in my basement.. and trying to clean up as much as I can,” said Morales.
He says the 4-year-old business will need some help to stay afloat as he will have to shut down again.
“I would be looking for relief because it wasn’t my fault. I was running a very successful gym prior to this happening,” said Morales.
The Department of Environmental Protection says the damaged water main will undergo evaluation, but that some businesses are still frustrated.
“I am really angry because even the first one they didn’t do anything for us... we had to build up our business by ourselves... and this is happening again,” said Morales.
