When the holiday season arrives, food pantry organizers say their organizations are often able to give a lot more to needy families.
Organizers at POTS food pantry in Belmont say once Thanksgiving comes they are able to offer families a variety of food from fruits and vegetables to grains and canned food.
The food pantry is on track to serve 860,000 meals this year.
Organizers say it can become a difficult task once the holidays are over, which is when most people typically give.
The pantry is open seven days a week and it gives families enough food to last three days.
