One of the oldest Bronx jewelry stores is closing Thursday after 80 years in business.
Allen Freilich, of Freilich Jewelers in Norwood, says he is closing his store on 204th Street after decades of business because he wants to retire.
He says he will continue to make himself available as a private jeweler by appointment only.
Freilich's father opened the store in 1935, and the son says he has never worked another job.
Allen Freilich says he's planning on donating the interior furnishings to a watchmaking school.
The store closed its doors for the last time at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
