A Bronx man is facing multiple charges for sexually assaulting a woman in the Kingsbridge Shopping District.
Officers were able to track down the suspect by his phone number that he allegedly gave the victim after the attack, according to police sources.
Nicholas DeJesus, 42 from the Bronx, was arrested on Tuesday and is facing rape, sex abuse, assault and harassment charges.
Police say the 33-year-old victim was near West 234th Street and Broadway around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when DeJesus approached her from behind.
According to sources close to the investigation, DeJesus grabbed the victim by her neck and said, "Give it to me or I'll kill you." When the victim replied "no," DeJesus punched the woman multiple times in the face and then sexually assaulted her.
The victim gave a phone number to police, which helped them track DeJesus down in the 41st Precinct where he was arrested the same day.
Rape incidents reported to the NYPD are significantly up in the 50th Precinct, with 19 incidents reported as of Sept. 14, 2025, compared to eight incidents reported 2024.
