A group of Bronx painters is volunteering to re-paint an art museum in the borough.
Union apprentices with District 9 were able to help the Bronx Museum of the Arts by painting its lower gallery; a job worth upward of $20,000, according to the museum.
Bronx paint shop owner, Gordon Roth, made the connection with the union in District 9 and was able to strike a deal that would allow the museum to undergo the renovations free of charge.
Community leaders say the Bronx Museum of the Arts has always done a tremendous amount of work within the community, playing a special role in education of children in the district.
Union leaders say although the apprentices are volunteering, they are walking away with greater experience in commercial painting jobs.
