Bronx residents on opposing sides on future of Bally Links

The community gathered on Friday to learn more about the future of Bally Links at Ferry Point Park.

Dozens showed up for the public meeting where they got to see the first plans to build a resort at the golf course, as well as transforming the parking lot and ballroom into the main hotel and structure of the resort.

The resort would include restaurants, a spa, a theater and a casino. Organizers say it would create 4,000 permanent union jobs with benefits and 15,000 construction jobs.

Some neighbors say they’re not that open to the idea – citing environmental concerns, gentrification and quality-of-life issues.

Bally’s is still awaiting approval for a state gaming license. If that’s denied, it says it will not go through with the plan.
