In just a few months since its inception, a new afterschool program at Community School 219 in the Bronx has sparked growth for the group of young women who started it.
Under the program called Unleashed, run by the Children's Aid youth advocate at the school, 16 girls learn how to share their voice and feelings with each other. They also discuss issues that matter to them and how they can change their communities with their voice.
Right now, they're in the middle of collecting goods for a food drive. They'll donate the goods to the homeless.
The group is planning on doing a cleanup day in Crotona Park for their next field trip.
