What started out as a civics lesson for some Bronx students has now led to an invitation to the White House.
Civic honors students at Bronx Latin School wrote letters to members of Congress as well as to city leaders about issues affecting their lives in the Bronx. The letters dealt with issues such as sexual assault, air quality and gun violence.
Several of our nation's leaders wrote back to the students. They even got a response from President Barack Obama.
The students received an invitation to the White House, where they will attend an event in the next two weeks. They say the biggest lesson learned was that they have the power to make a difference.
