A group of Bronx residents and one Floridian marked the Sept. 11 anniversary with a day of service to help victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Volunteers came out to state Assemblyman Michael Blake's office, collecting dental supplies, soap, dry foods and other needed items to send to those affected by the storms.

Among those helping was a Florida resident and Blake's mother, Hilary Lawrence, who flew to New York for the West Indian American Day Parade and hasn't been able to make it back after several of her flights were canceled.

Assemblyman Blake called it a day of service and unity, hoping to support as many as 3,000 victims with the drive.

Volunteers say their inspiration stems from how the rest of the country reached out to New York on 9/11.

Donations will be collected at the 79th District headquarters through Sept. 18.
