Approximately 40 summer youth employees were out in neighborhoods of Community Board 9 as part of "Operation Cleanup."
The program helps keep youth off the street during the summer by cleaning parks, main streets and underpasses of highways, while getting paid minimum wage.
"We get a lot of complaints about how the streets look, sanitation is happy that we are helping keep the streets clean," Community Board 9 member William Rivera says.
This was the first time Community Board 9 hosted this program.
