Each year the National Restaurant Industry Magazine, StarChefs, announces its class of New York Rising Stars. This year, nearly a dozen Brooklyn chefs, sommeliers and bakers made that highly anticipated list.
Instead of a celebration this year, the organization has launched a restaurant week to showcase the Rising Stars restaurants and dishes brought to recognition.
Eric See is one of the Brooklyn chefs being honored. He had to close his cafe, The Awkward Scone, during the pandemic but has opened up a new spot, Ursula, in Crown Heights.
"We were able to really engage with the community at that space I hired from within the community and I'm trying to carry on some of that stuff here,” said See.
Alan Delgado, from Oxomoco in Greenpoint, is being recognized for his grilled pork recipe.
"We sold like seven in the first hour yesterday, so people are excited,” said Delgado.
