Brooklyn Public Library to release limited-edition library card to celebrate Black American culture
The Brooklyn Public Library announced that it will be releasing a limited-edition card to celebrate Black American culture and history.
The library says it has partnered with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Brooklyn’s community boards.
They say the card will be released as part of Brooklyn Public Library’s Juneteenth 2021 celebrations. This is the first year Juneteenth will be recognized as a city, state and public-school library holiday.
The library says artists ages 13 and up are welcome to participate and submissions will be judges on artistic merit, creative expression and thematic connection.
The winner will receive a $2,000 stipend. The last day to submit art is Jan. 31.
