With the start of spring also comes the beginning of allergy season, so one Bronx doctor is offering tips to keep sufferers allergy free.
Dr. Alyson Smith, who works at St. Barnabas, says allergy season can be tough especially for those who have asthma. Smith says the best thing people can do is see their doctor and inquire about taking medicine or injections. Those with mild allergies can take over-the-counter medicine.
Smith says there are steps you can take in your home to prevent allergies. She says keep windows closed to keep pollen out. In addition, when you come inside you should wash your hands or shower.
When pollen levels are high, she says the best thing to do is stay inside.
