Celebrations are already underway ahead of Monday's West Indian-American Day Parade.
A Caribbean carnival kicked off at the Brooklyn Museum Thursday to get the party started.
Crowds gathered for the festivities and a reggae music concert.
The same group that runs the parade on Labor Day organized the carnival.
Also in store ahead of the parade are the Brass Festival on Friday night, the Saturday Kiddies Carnival and the Sunday Masque Gras, all at the Brooklyn Museum.
