The Bronx man arrested for allegedly pointing a laser at airplanes may be off the hook. 

Frank Egan is accused of pointing a laser at aircraft and injuring four pilots on March 9, but his roommate, Elehecer Balaguer, admitted in open court that it was actually him.

The 54-year-old, who is also the boyfriend of Egan's sister, said he purchased the powerful laser in Florida and was using it in their Bronx apartment. He says he didn't mean to hurt anyone and came forward because it was the right thing to do.

Balaguer is expected to speak with federal officials about his admission, and authorities say he will most likely be arrested.

Balaguer is no stranger to trouble. According to the Bronx District Attorney's Office, he has an outstanding warrant for marijuana possession and has done short stints in jail for drug charges.

Meanwhile, prosecutors say the investigation into Egan's involvement is ongoing, but they expect charges to be dropped when he returns to court next month.
