A number of Bronx bodegas participating in the city?s ?Move to Fruits and Vegetables? program say they haven?t received the fruits and vegetables the city promised. Last month, the city?s Department of Health introduced a pilot program to offer healthier options. A number of bodegas were expecting to receive a free shipment of fresh carrots and apples. Those bodegas would then offer a buy-one-get-one-free discount to customers. However, the owner of one Melrose Avenue bodega says the shipment never came. Officials from the Department of Health released a statement saying due to an issue with the supplier and delivery, some bodegas did not receive the initial shipment. Those bodegas will be receiving the fruits and vegetables soon.
