Forty people from 23 countries begin their journey as United States citizens today.
The group was sworn in during a naturalization ceremony on the steps of City Hall in New York City this morning. Mayor Eric Adams spoke at the ceremony emphasizing the importance of embracing the American culture along with one's ethnic roots.
According to the city's commissioner of immigrant affairs, this was the first time in two decades that the naturalization ceremony was held at City Hall.
