A historic City Island museum recently had work done to its exterior.
Officials at the City Island Nautical Museum, located on Fordham Street, say 17 new windows were recently installed last week at a total cost of $25,000.
The new windows mimic the architecture of the building's original design, which was a late 19th century schoolhouse.
Museum administrator Barbara Dolensek says compared to the old windows, the new 8-foot ones are more energy-efficient and can also withstand storm winds.
The museum is now working on a fundraising campaign to offset the cost of the new windows.
The steps leading up to the building were also renovated, and plans are in the works to get a new fence that fits with the historic style of the museum.
