City officials participated in an exercise aimed to keep the boroughs safe and make sure residents are winter weather ready.
Part of the exercise was to simulate a response to a weather emergency. The goal was to prepare departments to make informative decisions in the midst of a storm. Officials also learned about forecasting and National Weather Service so they are able to make accurate decisions. "When that big storm hits and it will we want to make sure we are ready,” New York City Emergency Management executive director Paula Carlson. “Not just for the storm but for you. We want to make sure we are doing everything we can and to keep you safe, keep the city moving, and bounce back as quickly as possible." Officials added they’re focused on making every second count and making tough calls effectively.
